Elgar and Bax - Sonatas
Tasmin Little and Martin Roscoe have performed this work many times in concert, and this shows in the confidence of their playing and their assimilation of Bax’s musical style......
.....This is a work that shows Bax in expansive and wayward mood, and in lesser hands it can sound indulgent, but here the performers are highly successful in holding the work together, and the listener’s attention is maintained throughout.....
.....The Elgar Sonata, of course, is much better known and has received far more recordings over the years, from Albert Sammons to Nigel Kennedy. But having made comparison with some of the other recommended performances in the catalogue, I can certainly confirm that this new one stands among the very finest and can be warmly recommended to all Elgarians.

..... Hickox plays this music from the inside - basically, the only way to play it. I think he's inherited Boult's mantle as an advocate for a certain type of British music - the Vaughan Williams wing - although he also does well with Britten, Walton, and Tippett.....
.....Tasmin Little does well, but the Finzi concerto doesn't let the spotlight shine on a soloist. The music's mainly the thing. However, she does wonderfully well in the concerto's slow movement. She "gets" it......

LLOYD - Violin Sonata
(part of an amplifier review ....)
Tasmin Little’s solo violin on George Lloyd’s quietly powerful Lament, Air, and Dance Sonata [Albany TROY029-2] was rendered with a natural beauty and sensuous tone gripping enough to make one’s heart stop.

RAVEL-POULENC-DEBUSSY - Violin Sonatas
Tasmin Little and Piers Lane have given us performances that are sheer delights. Little’s clean technique and precise intonation are coupled with the perfect combination of elegance and virtuosity. Piers Lane is a superb partner, and the mutual respect that these musicians show for each other’s playing is evident in the manner in which each player gives, takes and shares the limelight. This is the kind of music that reminds one of a perfect day, and these players deliver it to us like a beautifully prepared meal. One leaves the recital with nothing save satisfaction.
